5-Rookie Truck Driving Mistakes You Must Try To Avoid In India

Are you a novice truck driver trying to gain better knowledge of truck driving? If so, you would like to know about the 5-Rookie Truck Driving Mistakes You Must Try To Avoid In India. Read on.

Hauling cargo with a tractor-trailer is no joke as it involves numerous risks. Unlike driving a small passenger vehicle, truck driving is a much more difficult task that involves maximum preciseness and all-time accuracy- two factors which must be perfect to avoid accidents. Truck drivers always need to pay attention to oncoming traffic and need to be cautious while driving heavy cargo across the lengths and breadths of the country.

However, there are other things too that truck drivers must consider apart from the obvious which is driving safe. If you are a novice truck driver new to the business, you need to consider avoiding the following mistakes to keep everyone safe and gain maximum profitability by delivering the goods on time.

So, here are 5 rookie mistakes truck drivers must try to avoid in India:

  1. Not Seeking Help:

Firstly, if you are a rookie truck driver and are finding it difficult to understand the invoice, delivery note or even details regarding the destination address, you need to ask for help. Sometimes, drivers tend to not ask simple questions because of the fear of being labelled as a rookie. Well, everyone started the same way a novice driver does, so don’t hold yourself back from asking questions. As a matter of fact, asking questions to the right person, like perhaps your boss, will only impress them.

  1. Pushing Further Than Your Limits:

Next, make sure to take time for yourself and your family. While your boss and colleagues tend to motivate you to push further than your limits, do not forget the fact that you need time and space to improve yourself. So, make sure to maintain a schedule, keep track of time and take plenty of rest to avoid exhaustion.

  1. Failing To Stay Organised:

Up next is a continuation of the above- Stay organised. Sometimes human beings tend to lose track of time, forget things and slack a lot due to a lack of motivation. This will only affect your profitability scale, reputation and many other aspects like even your personal life. Therefore, try to maintain a schedule. You could start with something as simple as having meals at right time, sleeping at the right time, starting your day by inspecting your vehicle and looking for how good your tyres are so on.

  1. Overspending:

This is one of the reasons that could potentially harm you in the long run. Make sure to spend money on items and food as per the requirement. Do not overspend on food and other items like clothes or ornaments unnecessarily. Always prepare for the unseen like a breakdown which could require you to pay a hefty amount to fix. So make sure to save money as well.

  1. Over speeding:

Sometimes, you may end up being late due to traffic or other unforeseen circumstances like a roadblock due to an accident. At these times, you may have the urge to drive your truck at excessive speeds to reach your delivery destination quickly. At such times, it’s best to calm down and drive within the speed limits. It’s okay if you lose some money due to being late than being sorry for causing a risky situation.

Thus, these were the 5-Rookie Truck Driving Mistakes You Must Try To Avoid In India.
