Critically acclaimed and leading electric mobility solutions company, Magenta Mobility announces a new partnership with globally renowned e-commerce and tech giant, Amazon India. Under the new partnership between Magenta Mobility and Amazon India, a fleet of electric vehicles will be deployed by Magenta for Amazon India’s delivery partners in Hyderabad and Telangana. It is believed that two and four-wheelers will be provided to Amazon India to enhance its last-mile delivery services.
The partnership with Magenta Mobility is part of the integrated sustainability plan to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040. The brand is planning to achieve a zero carbon emission-based last mile delivery fleet, as part of its sustainability efforts. The strategy is in alignment with Amazon India’s initiative, called The Climate Pledge, for decarbonisation.
The new collaboration is in line with Magenta Mobility’s target of accelerating EV adoption in India. If we rewind back to two years from now, Amazon India had set a new milestone of adding 10,000 electric vehicles to its delivery fleet by 2025. It had also planned to add over 1,00,000 electric vehicles to its global delivery fleet by 2030. It is believed that the new collaboration is with respect to the said targets set in the past by Amazon India.
“This launch in Hyderabad is a continuation of our collaboration with Amazon that started in Bengaluru and will help transform a significant number of Amazon’s last-mile delivery fleet to EVs and encourage the e-commerce industry to decarbonise last-mile logistics actively,” says Maxson Lewis, Founder and MD, Magenta Mobility.
As for Magenta Mobility, the brand’s Magenta ChargeGrid division has been actively installing electric vehicle charging stations in India. Currently, the brand is focusing on establishing 4,000 EV chargers at various locations. According to the brand, mostly all of the electric cars that run on Indian roads can be charged using Magenta’s charging units, for example, Tata Tigor, Tata Nexon EV, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona and Kia EV6 among other cars.
Commenting on the occasion, Abhinav Singh, Director, Customer Fulfilment, Supply Chain and Global Specialty Fulfilment, Amazon India, said, ‘Our collaboration with Magenta Mobility will help us serve customers in a more environmentally-friendly way. This collaboration is an important step towards building an enabling ecosystem to drive electric transportation and further driving more sustainable operations in Hyderabad, an important locale for us.”
