Here’s India’s First And Very Own Electric 4-Speed Tata Ace

Leading electric vehicle component manufacturer, Log9 Material and Northway has developed India’s first electric commercial vehicle with 4-speed manual transmission- The Log9 electric Tata Ace. The company is quite renowned in India for manufacturing electric powertrains. Interestingly, the commercial vehicle which they found suitable for an electric powertrain fitment is India’s very own Tata Ace, a mini truck popular for its reliability and performance.

While the brand has tried to swap the powertrain of the internal combustion-based vehicle with an electric motor, they have not fiddled with most of its original OEM components such as the differential and propeller shaft. However, the Tata Ace gets a heavy-duty Log9 electric motor and a Northway transmission setup.

Further, the main attraction of this electric vehicle is its battery pack which is the power source that enables the vehicle to operate. The Log9 Battery Pack equipped on this Tata Ace is highly in demand due to its durability and reliability. It is believed that most electric vehicle manufacturers use Log9 battery as their product’s power source. Let’s dive right into the details of this battery:

The Tata Ace used here comes equipped precisely with a Log9 RapidX12000 battery for powering the transmission as well as the electric motor. It is a lithium-titanium-oxide battery pack that can function in the most challenging conditions. It can withstand and operate in conditions that offer a range of -45 degrees to 60 degrees. What’s even more interesting is that the brand is providing a warranty of 8 years or unlimited kilometres for this mini electric truck.

Furthermore, the battery is rated  73.6 V, 160 Ah, and IP 67 which means that it is extremely dust and waterproof. The brand also claims that with a D.C. fast charger, the battery pack can be charged fully within 45minutes.

While the battery seems to be quite interesting, the vehicle has a unique transmission. Let’s take a look at it as well:

As mentioned before, this particular vehicle comes with a 4-speed Northway Motor’s GearBox. The first two gears are meant to be used while carrying heavy loads. It is said that the third and fourth gears are to be used for the normal functioning of the vehicle. Although the operation of the gear is mentioned, the brand has not given a particular number as to what power the electric motor generates. Nonetheless, it is a unique product that is made in India for India.
