Mahindra Tease Electric Pickup, Is It Electric Bolero Pik-Up?

Haven’t you heard the news? You are in for a surprise, Mahindra has released a teaser of what could be an electric Bolero Pik-Up. Read on to know more about the video and what to expect.

The Indian automotive market is shifting its focus to the electrification of its fleet, to commit toward cleaner and sustainable mobility. While there are already multiple manufacturers of electric vehicles in the passenger segment, Mahindra has taken the initiative to step forward with the electrification of its commercial fleet. It has released a teaser of what seems to be a new electric pickup truck concept based on the Bolero Pik-Up.

As per the recently shown teaser, the design of the electric pickup seems to be similar to their existing stallion- the Mahindra Bolero Pik-Up which currently has a good market presence. As for the Bolero brand, it is critically acclaimed and renowned for its heavy-duty performance among tier 2 and 3 cities in India.

Further, the teaser showcases the rough vehicle dynamics seen on the Bolero. We assume that Mahindra might name this pickup concept something in terms of the Bolero branding. As for the current Bolero Pik-Up, it comes with a single cabin and two-seater with a flatbed configuration. Similar styling and configuration can be expected from the new electric bolero which might be launched alongside Mahindra’s ‘Born Electric’ unveil on August 15.

While no other details are presented in the teaser, we hope to see the electric Bolero with a payload capacity similar to the Mahindra Bolero Pik-Up- 1700kg.

Furthermore, as per numerous reports, Mahindra might be planning on entering big in the electric commercial vehicle industry. There seems to be a huge potential in the electric commercial vehicle market since only a handful of manufacturers are offering heavy-duty electric four-wheelers for multiple applications like fruits and vegetables, Milk products and FMCG among others.

Nonetheless, the electric Bolero Pickup truck could easily become the favourite among last mile delivery services and logistics who plan on transitioning to an electric fleet. Regarding the launch, there are numerous rumours in the industry that Mahindra might be planning to unveil the Electric Bolero as one of the five electric SUVs by Mahindra due to launch on August 15th.
