Leading commercial grade electric vehicle manufacturer, Olectra Greentech Limited (Olectra) has attained an order worth Rs.500 crores from the Telangana State for the supply of 300 fully electric buses that are efficient and reliable. Olectra has confirmed that the brand will be providing 300 electric buses to TSRTC under a new agreement.

Olectra and Evey Trans Private Ltd, a specialised wing of Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Ltd., will be manufacturing the electric buses as per the Letter of Award (LoA) from TSRTC received by the brands. According to the new deal, 300 electric buses will be provided to the state of Telangana over a period of 20 months.

The e-buses will be supplied in accordance with the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles scheme or FAME-II scheme of the Government of India. Further, the aforementioned number of buses which is precisely 300 in number, will be supplied on a Gross Cost Contract or OPEX model basis for 12 years. The brand has also stated that during the entire term of the contract, the electric buses will be maintained mechanically and cosmetically by Olectra.

K V Pradeep, Chairman and Managing Director, Olectra Greentech Ltd, said, “ We feel honored to provide our services to the State of Telangana. The state-of-the-art zero-emission buses have already proven their capabilities in the market. Deploying them in Telangana under TSRTC will reflect the same efficiency, if not better.

Our buses have already been operating in Hyderabad for the last three years quite efficiently and have been deployed for airport transit too. We hope to give our customers the best commuting experience we can offer and will provide the State with all 300 buses as per the schedule discussed.”

Furthermore, as per our sources, the 12-metre e-buses might come with disk brakes accompanied by EBS for the utmost safety of its passengers. It is believed that the electric buses will be deployed with CCTV surveillance for passenger safety in addition to the fire extinguisher and medical kit.

In terms of performance, the vehicle might come with a driving range of 200km per single charge, however, the exact number is yet to be confirmed. Nonetheless, the vehicle has already proven its abilities across different platforms for efficiency- Over 750+ Olectra buses operate commercially in India.
