Renowned and well acclaimed electric commercial vehicle manufacturer, PMI Electro Mobility sets up the first ever electric bus depot in Rajkot which covers an area of 17,000 square metres. The electric bus depot was inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat- Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel.
PMI Electro Mobility announces that they made a delivery of 23 new electric buses to the Rajkot Municipal Corporation as part of the Letter of Authorization (LoA) presented to the company in 2019. Also, Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel has given the green light to run the buses on the BRTS corridor in Rajkot.
The e-bus maker now has around 50 electric buses running in Rajkot on the BRTS corridor. However, the number of electric buses is said to double in number since PMI has been awarded yet another LoA last month to supply the Rajkot Municipal Corporation with 100 additional electric buses, which will make them the largest e-bus provider in the city.
The depot of the electric buses has been developed solely by PMI and has a capacity to support 80 e-buses at a time. Further, the depot gets 14 DC Fast Chargers that have the capacity to charge the battery pack of each bus from 20 per cent to 100 per cent in just 55 minutes.
Speaking on the occasion, Anurag Aggarwal, Director, PMI Electro Mobility, said “Rajkot is emerging as one of the leaders in embracing electric mobility in Gujarat and PMI is committed to driving the government’s vision. We already have electric buses running in the city and our recently inaugurated electric bus depot will act as a support system to efficaciously develop an electric public transportation system in Rajkot.”
Interestingly, the PMI electric bus depot has been developed by the company in just over a period of 11 months. It features state-of-the-art infrastructure which includes DC fast charging stations and service bays.
“The e-bus depot has been carefully designed to provide a robust charging infrastructure through 14 DC fast chargers. The depot also has bays dedicated for maintenance and services of these electric buses so as to ensure reliable services to the people of Rajkot” he added.
As for the buses, they come with a variety of safety features such as a real-time monitoring system (RTMS) and CCTV cameras to ensure a safe ride for the occupants onboard. It also gets advanced air suspension to take on difficult road conditions and to offer maximum comfort to its passengers.
Thus, this was all about the PMI Electro Mobility and the First Electric Bus Depot In Rajkot to help you stay up to speed.
