redBus Launches Primo: Enhancing Revenue and Customer Loyalty for Small and Medium-Sized Bus Operators

redBus is the world’s largest online bus ticket booking service, trusted by over 25 million happy customers globally. redBus offers bus ticket booking through its website and iOS and Android mobile apps for all major routes in India.

redBus is a consumer-facing travel brand enabling customers to buy tickets on the internet and mobile. Through its partnerships with bus operators, the company makes it possible for passengers to rent buses and purchase tickets for intercity travel. Both iOS and Android users can download its mobile app.

redBus announced the launch of Primo for small and medium-sized bus operators. This program by redBus is made for the purpose of helping small operators improve revenue generation, brand recall, and customer loyalty through initiatives like loyalty programs and cutting-edge marketing techniques.

Only the top 10% of redBus’ top-performing operators are granted the Primo tag, which ensures that passengers receive bus services that meet basic safety and dependability standards. A customer loyalty program that gives Primo passengers discounts and benefits, customer service initiatives, high-end bus branding, employee training, prompt refunds, analytics-based insights, and operator-first digital marketing campaigns are some of the salient characteristics. According to redBus’s prior loyalty programs, this initiative is anticipated to raise operator knowledge and recognition, increase occupancy by 5–7%, and potentially lead to a double-digit rise in bookings (10%). Generally speaking, Primo operators can charge more.

redBus will employ artificial intelligence (AI) to make customized videos for over 300 operators, which will be shown on the company’s YouTube page in an effort to raise awareness of individual operators. Operators can also share these movies on their own social media channels, which enables them to interact with a larger audience and demonstrate their dedication to providing high-quality service. For small and medium-sized operators with fewer than 50 buses, who might lack the means to manage such programs independently, it offers access to special products and technologies.

Prakash Sangam, CEO, redBus, said, “The program is able to address the existing gap in India’s fragmented bus industry and create a pan-India brand associated with high-quality bus services. Primo is all about providing efficiencies of scale for small and medium bus operators to support their growth. Very often we find that some truly excellent operators are not able to do more with their business because of a lack of awareness among customers or because they are not able to fully leverage technology for business operations. We are confident Primo will be able to address this, resulting in a win-win for both customers and operators alike.

Today, more than 3,000 buses operate under the redBus Primo brand, which consumers have grown to associate with comfort, safety, and dependability.
