ZELIO Ebikes Accelerates into the E-Rickshaw Market with ‘Tanga’ Debut at EV India Expo 2024

ZELIO Ebikes has formally entered the expanding e-rickshaw market with its new “Tanga”. The Haryana-based EV company founded in 2021, unveiled its first two e-rickshaw models alongside global manufacturers of electric cars, motorcycles, buses and various other mobility solutions, at the esteemed EV India Expo 2024 in New Delhi.

The Expo serves as a platform for networking among consumers and industry stakeholders, emphasizing environmental sustainability and next-generation transportation. ZELIO found the EV India Expo, an international electric motor vehicle event, to be the perfect venue for showcasing its most recent products. Manufacturers of electric vehicles gather at the event to showcase the newest models of buses, motorbikes, scooters, passenger cars, and more.

“We have been receiving a lot of inquiries about expanding into shared mobility solutions like e-rickshaws,” said Mr. Kunal Arya, Co-Founder and Managing Director of ZELIO Ebikes, after entering the e-rickshaw industry. We made the decision to enter this market because of the strong demand for this kind of transportation throughout India, especially in urban and semi-urban areas. In addition to unveiling the Tanga models, ZELIO also highlighted its existing low-speed electric two-wheeler lineup, which includes the X-Men series, Eeva series and GRACY series. Two of its most recent models—the high-speed Mystery electric scooter and the improved X-Men 2.0, received positive attention for their design and performance.

ZELIO Ebikes has served more than 200,000 consumers and developed a network of more than 256 dealerships all throughout India from its founding. By March 2025, the business plans to establish 400 additional dealerships; this will consequently enhance its market influence regarding electric vehicles. However, the execution of this strategy may present challenges, because the market is constantly evolving.
